Coca Cola Steak Marinade

Coke as a steak marinade, say what?!  My boss recently told me about this and I was skeptical, but did some research online and found several recipes.  I took bits and pieces from a few different recipes and created my own version.  The acidity in the soda really breaks down a tough cut of meat...I tried with flank steak and it worked pretty well as a tenderizer even though I only gave it 3 hours.  I would definitely marinate overnight when I try this again.  (There is no Coke taste whatsoever.)

Ingredients:
12 oz. Coca-Cola
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup EVOO
2 garlic cloves, crushed

I eye-balled the seasonings to my liking:
palm-full of Montreal Steak
red pepper flakes
ground mustard
dash of cayenne
whole peppercorns

Directions:
Mix all ingredients well and pour into a plastic zip-loc bag with your choice of meat.  Marinate in the fridge overnight.  Let meat rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling.
